Jazz has become one of the most popular dance styles in recent years, mainly due to its popularity on television shows, theatre, movies, music videos and commercials. The style is fun and energetic and has the ability to showcase a dancer’s individual style and originality. To excel in jazz dance classes, a strong background in ballet encourages grace and balance. As in most forms of dance, technique is the foundation for Jazz Program.
In particular, our students will benefit from a sound working knowledge of learned sequences incorporating fall and release, rolling, and the body’s response to gravity. Jazz dance classes will strongly encourage personal style as well as technique, and allow a student to explore many styles including: contemporary, Broadway, lyrical and more!
Jazz Dance Classes 1-3Ages 6-16
Inna’s Hall of Fame has many jazz dance classes to offer students who are interested in jazz. The jazz classes have a solid technical foundation with fun and fast-paced classes that are offered to students ages 6+. Jazz is an excellent way to develop rhythm, coordination, dexterity, and agility that carries over to other dance disciplines, academics, and athletics. They improve concentration and a student’s ability to grasp and execute combinations and instructions quickly.
Students not only learn jazz technique but also develop self confidence, stage presence, and performance skills. Students learn techniques based on ballet and modern dance. Through warm-ups and exercises students gain strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination. Musicality and performance skills are taught through a series of dance combinations.
All the jazz dance classes at Inn’s Hall of Fame start with a warm-up that stretches and tones the body. This class develops proper body alignment, flexibility, balance and strength. Exercises follow that isolate the different parts of the body and develop increasingly complex coordination of the arms, head and legs.
